A Red Admiral was seen today at the bottom lake.

A Red Admiral was seen in the pasture field.

A couple of Red Admirals were seen daily between these dates.

Sightings today were 5 Red Admirals.

Wednesday 12th October

Today's sightings included 4 Red Admirals and 1 Large White

Tuesday 11th October

A total of 5 Red Admirals were noted today.

Monday 10th October

On site today was 5 Red Admirals, 1 Large White and 1 Small White.

Friday 7th October

On site today was 3 Red Admirals, 1 Comma and 2 Large Whites.

Monday 3rd October

Sightings today included 3 Red Admirals, 5 Large Whites and 2 Peacocks.

Wednesday 28th September

A total of 7 Large Whites, 3 Small Whites, 4 Red Admirals and 1 Peacock were present today.

Tuesday 27th September

On site today was 8 Large Whites, 2 Red Admirals, 3 Small Whites and 1 Comma.

Tuesday 20th Thursday 22nd September

Very quiet with no change of numbers, species noted included 7 Large Whites, 3 Small Whites, 3 Red Admirals, 3 Peacocks (6 on Wednesday) and 1 Comma.

Monday 19th September

Very little today with just 8 Large Whites, 3 Red Admirals, 2 Commas and 6 Small Whites.

Thursday 15th September

There was a good total of Red Admirals today with at least 15 being present across the site, also 8 Peacocks, 2 Commas, 2 Meadow Browns, 9 Large Whites and 7 Small Whites.

Wednesday 14th September

Sightings today included 8 Red Admirals, 17 Large Whites, 11 Small Whites, 2 Small Heaths, 3 Commas, 2 Meadow Browns and 2 Peacocks.

Tuesday 13th September

On site today was 15 Large Whites, 6 Red Admirals, 8 Small Whites, 5 Peacocks, 3 Small Heaths, 2 Meadow Browns, 1 Wall Brown, 1 Comma and 1 Small Tortoiseshell.

Monday 12th September

Sightings today included 3 Red Admirals, 12 Large Whites, 7 Meadow Browns, 5 Small Heaths, 3 Peacocks, 8 Small Whites, 1 Comma and 1 Small Tortoiseshell.

Friday 9th September

8 Large Whites, 2 Red Admirals, 1 Comma, 3 Peacocks, 7 Small Heaths and 1 Common Blue.

Thursday 8th September

6 Meadow Browns, 4 Red Admirals, 11 Large Whites, 3 Small Whites and 3 Small Heaths.

Wednesday 7th September

1 Small Tortoiseshell, 11 Meadow Browns, 11 Large Whites, 4 Red Admirals and 2 Peacocks.

Another quiet day with 2 Red Admirals, 10 Large Whites, 3 Small Heaths and 6 Small Whites.

Thursday 1st September

Fairly quiet today with just 10 Large Whites, 9 Small Whites, 2 Common Blues, 2 Red Admirals, 21 Meadow Browns, 1 Small Tortoiseshell, 2 Peacocks and 4 Small Heaths.

Wednesday 31st August

A Clouded Yellow was seen again this time by the bottom lake, and our first Humming-bird Hawkmoth of the year which was present by the horse stables. Others noted were 13 Large Whites, 2 Common Blues, 7 Small Whites, 8 Red Admirals, 5 Small Heaths, 1 Comma, 2 Peacocks and 21 Meadow Browns

Tuesday 30th August

A total of 6 Small Heaths, 10 Large Whites, 2 Common Blues, 1 Copper, 4 Red Admirals, 5 Small Whites, 23 Meadow Browns, 3 Peacocks and best of all a Clouded Yellow which was in the pasture field.

Friday 26th August

Sightings today were 30 Large Whites, 4 Red Admirals, 25 Meadow Browns, 3 Common Blues, 1 Comma and 5 Peacocks.

Thursday 25th August

A day which was mainly dominated by Large Whites with at least 35 seen across the site, there was also 3 Red Admirals, 4 Peacocks, 7 Small Whites, 4 Common Blues, 23 Meadow Browns and a Comma.

Wednesday 24th August

Sightings today included 9 Large Whites, 6 Peacocks, 4 Red Admirals, 2 Commas, 33 Meadow Browns and 2 Common Blues

Monday 22nd August

There was surprisingly very little around today in such nice weather with just 7 Large Whites, 25 Meadow Browns, 3 Small Whites, 2 Red Admirals, 1 Peacock and 1 Comma.

Friday 19th August

The weather was poor today so little in the way of butterflies but there was still 6 Red Admirals, 16 Meadow Browns, 3 Large Whites, 3 Small Whites, 1 Comma and 2 Common Blues.

Thursday 18th August

Another fairly quiet day with 2 Painted Lady's 6 Large Whites, 1 Common Blue, 2 Peacocks, 5 Red Admirals and 4 Commas.

Wednesday 17th August

Fairly quiet on site today with just 3 Large Whites, 5 Small Whites, 2 Red Admirals, 1 Painted Lady, 2 Commas and 24 Meadow Browns.

Tuesday 16th August

Sightings today included 6 Large Whites, 6 Red Admirals, 2 Painted Lady's 27 Meadow Browns, 2 Gatekeepers, 2 Peacocks and 1 Comma.

Monday 15th August

Present today was 6 Red Admirals, 32 Meadow Browns, 10 Large Whites, 8 Small Whites, 3 Painted Lady's, 6 Ringlets, 3 Peacocks and 4 Commas.

Friday 12th August

On site today was 55 Meadow Browns, 5 Red Admirals, 1 Common Blue, 1 Painted Lady, 8 Large Whites, 6 Small Whites, 5 Commas and 6 Gatekeepers.

Thursday 11th August

Present today was 25 Meadow Browns, 3 Red Admirals, 5 Large Whites, 3 Small Whites, 3 Commas, 1 Common Blue and 6 Peacocks.

Wednesday 10th August

Fairly quiet today with just 3 Marbled Whites, 32 Meadow Browns, 6 Gatekeepers, 4 Red Admirals, 4 Large Whites, 2 Small Whites and 4 Commas.

Tuesday 9th August

There was a large number of Meadow Browns today with at least 200 on site, also 5 Large Whites, 1 Common Blue, 1 Small Skipper, 8 Red Admirals, 6 Peacocks, 5 Gatekeepers, 2 Small Tortoiseshells, 4 Commas and 1 Painted Lady.

Monday 8th August

There was a good total of 15 Red Admirals today, also 1 Brimstone, 16 Marbled Whites, 4 Peacocks, 6 Large Whites, 6 Small Whites, 8 Gatekeepers, 32 Meadow Browns, 2 Small Tortoiseshells, 2 Commas and 2 Small Skippers

Friday 5th August

On site today was 5 Large Whites, 3 Small Whites, 1 Small Skipper, 4 Red Admirals, 4 Small Tortoiseshells, 26 Meadow Browns, 2 Peacocks and 13 Gatekeepers.

Thursday 4th August

The first Comma was on site today also 2 Painted Lady's 17 Meadow Browns, 3 Red Admirals, 1 Small Skipper, 4 Marbled Whites, 12 Gatekeepers, 6 Large Whites and 1 Small Tortoiseshell.

Wednesday 3rd August

It was another quiet day with just a Painted Lady, 18 Meadow Browns, 5 Large Whites, 2 Gatekeepers, 2 Red Admirals and 2 Marbled Whites.

Tuesday 2nd August

Not surprising due to the poor weather there was little in the way of butterflies with just 4 Marbled Whites, 4 Large Whites, 4 Small Whites, 8 Gatekeepers, 19 Meadow Browns, 3 Red Admirals and 3 Small Tortoiseshells.

Monday 1st August

Very quiet today with just 4 Marbled Whites, 4 Large Whites, 1 Peacock, 1 Wall Brown, 23 Meadow Browns, 3 Red Admirals, 10 Gatekeepers and 1 Small Tortoiseshell.

Friday 29th July

Not many butterflies today with just 9 Marbled Whites, 1 Peacock, 1 Comma, 27 Meadow Browns, 2 Red Admirals, 9 Gatekeepers, 5 Large Whites and 3 Small Whites.

Thursday 28th July

A total of 28 Marbled Whites, 2 Peacock, 5 Large Whites, 3 Small Whites, 39 Meadow Browns, 4 Small Heaths, 10 Gatekeepers, 6 Red Admirals and 9 Ringlets.

Wall Brown (Top Lake)
There wasn't a great number of butterflies around today but it did produce a Wall Brown, 3 Large Whites, 8 Marbled Whites, 2 Small Tortoiseshells, 3 Red Admirals, 2 Small Whites, 8 Gatekeepers and 35 Meadow Browns.

Red Admiral (Pasture Field)
Today was pretty good for butterflies with 40 Marbled Whites, 6 Large Whites, 1 Green-veined White, 3 Small Heaths, 6 Red Admirals, 4 Small Skippers, 3 Small Tortoiseshells, 8 Ringlets, 70 Meadow Browns and 10 Gatekeepers.

Monday 25th July

Fairly quiet today with 18 Marbled Whites, 2 Red Admirals, 2 Large Whites, 3 Small Whites, 1 Green-veined White, 4 Small Heaths and 60 Meadow Browns.

Friday 22nd July


Peacock (Pasture Field)
It was a very good day for butterflies in sunny and hot conditions, the first Small Copper of the year was seen, also 4 Peacocks, 80 Meadow Browns, 6 Small Skippers, 1 Large Skipper, 4 Small Heaths, 8 Large Whites, 6 Small Whites, 36 Marbled Whites, 3 Small Tortoiseshells, 10 Ringlets and 4 Red Admirals.

Gatekeeper (Top Lake)
The first Wall Brown for sometime was in the walled garden, others included 27 Marbled Whites, 8 Large Whites, 5 Gatekeepers, 2 Red Admirals, 53 Meadow Browns, 6 Ringlets and 3 Small Tortoiseshells.

Wednesday 20th July

Not much around today with just 8 Marbled Whites, 3 Large Whites, 3 Red Admirals, 6 Small Heaths and 2 Small Tortoiseshells.

Monday 18th July

Due to a beautiful hot and sunny day the butterflies were out in very good numbers, these included 35 Marbled Whites, 80 Meadow Browns, 1 Gatekeeper, 2 Holly Blues, 5 Common Blues, 12 Small Heaths, 12 Large Whites, 1 Large Skipper, 9 Red Admirals, 5 Small Tortoiseshells and 1 Painted Lady.

Marbled White (Pasture Field)
The butterflies are starting to show in good numbers now with 45 Marbled Whites, 3 Red Admirals, 9 Small Heaths, 6 Large Whites, 70 Meadow Browns, 3 Common Blues, 6 Small Tortoiseshells, 5 Small Skippers and 22 Ringlets.

Small Tortoiseshell (Walled Garden)
There was a good number of butterflies today including 35 Marbled Whites, 60 Meadow Browns, 6 Common Blues, 23 Ringlets, 13 Small Heaths, 7 Large Whites, 4 Small Tortoiseshells and 2 Red Admirals.

Wednesday 13th July

Sightings today included 10 Small Heaths, 4 Marbled Whites, 30 Meadow Browns, 4 Large Whites, 10 Ringlets and 3 Red Admirals.

Tuesday 12th July

Today's sightings were 8 Marbled Whites, 10 Ringlets, 6 Common Blues, 3 Large Whites, 45 Meadow Browns and 8 Small Heaths.

Monday 11th July

3 Marbled Whites, 70 Meadow Browns, 8 Ringlets, 9 Small Heaths, 2 Common Blues, 1 Large White, 1 Small Tortoiseshell and 1 Red Admiral.

Friday 8th July

A total of 13 Ringlets were seen today, also 2 Marbled Whites, 9 Small Heaths, 3 Large Whites, 2 Small Skippers, 60 Meadow Browns, 1 Painted Lady, 3 Common Blues and 1 Red Admiral.

Thursday 7th July

Species seen today included 3 Marbled Whites, 2 Red Admirals, 2 Large Whites, 30 Meadow Browns, 2 Small Skippers, 8 Small Heaths and 6 Common Blues.

Wednesday 6th July

There was a good amount of butterflies out today with 3 Marbled Whites, 2 Large Whites, 100+ Meadow Browns, 2 Tortoiseshells, 1 Painted Lady and the first Large and Small Skippers with 2 of each respectively.

Tuesday 5th July

On site today was 27 Meadow Browns, 1 Peacock, 7 Small Heaths, 3 Common Blues, 1 Small Tortoiseshell, 3 Large Whites and 1 Painted Lady.

Monday 4th July

Due to some nice decent weather there was a few butterflies out today including the first Marbled White of the year, also 50 Meadow Browns, 7 Common Blues, 2 Small Tortoiseshells, 2 Large Whites and 8 Small Heaths.

Very quiet with just 7 Meadow Browns.

Another good morning of Meadow Browns with 30 being noted, also 6 Common Blues, 10 Small Heaths and 1 Large White.

A morning dominated by Meadow Browns with a total of 25 scattered around the site, also 6 Small Heaths, 3 Common Blues and 1 Large White.

Friday 24th June

1 Painted Lady, 12 Small Heaths, 7 Meadow Browns, 2 Red Admirals, 3 Common Blues and 1 Large White.

Thursday 23rd June

3 Small Heaths, 2 Red Admirals, 3 Meadow Browns and a Large White.

Tuesday 21st June

3 Small Heaths, 3 Red Admirals, 3 Meadow Browns and 2 Large Whites.

Our first of two Painted Lady Butterflies was seen in the pasture field today, also 7 Small Heaths, 2 Red Admirals, 4 Common Blues, 3 Large Whites, 2 Small Whites and a Peacock.

2 Red Admirals, 2 Large Whites, 4 Small Heaths and a Small Tortoiseshell.

Friday 27th May

6 Red Admirals, 2 Small Tortoiseshell, 3 Small Heaths, 3 Common Blues, 2 Peacocks, 6 Large Whites, 1 Brimstone and 6 Small Whites.

Thursday 26th May

4 Common Blues, 6 Small Heaths, 1 Red Admiral, 6 Large Whites, 3 Small Whites and 1 Orange Tip.

Wednesday 25th May

3 Red Admirals, 3 Small Heaths, 3 Large Whites, 3 Small Whites and 2 Common Blues.

Tuesday 24th May

2 Red Admirals, 3 Large Whites, 1 Small White and 2 Small Heaths.

Friday 20th May

1 Wall Brown, 3 Large Whites, 5 Small Heaths and 1 Orange Tip.

Thursday 19th May

On site today was 1 Orange Tip, 3 Large Whites, 1 Small White, 3 Small Heaths and 1 Common Blue.

Wednesday 18th May

2 Red Admirals, 1 Peacock, 1 Wall Brown and 1 Common Blue.

Tuesday 17th May

A total of 6 Red Admirals were seen today along with 3 Large Whites, 2 Small Whites, 2 Common Blues, 1 Brimstone, 1 Orange Tip and 1 Small Tortoiseshell.

Monday 16th May

Very quiet today with just 1 Brimstone, 2 Red Admirals, 2 Large Whites, 1 Small Tortoiseshell and 1 Small Heath.

Friday 13th May

The butterflies are gradually starting to appear with 2 Red Admirals, 1 Small Heath, 6 Large Whites, 2 Common Blues, 3 Speckled Woods, 2 Brimstones and 2 Wall Browns.

Thursday 12th May

On site today was 2 Speckled Woods, 1 Small Heath, 4 Red Admirals and 4 Large Whites.

Wednesday 11th May

Just 2 Red Admirals on site today.

Tuesday 10th May

Today produced 2 Red Admirals, 1 Speckled Wood and 2 Large Whites.

Monday 9th May

It was slightly better today with 6 different species noted, in total there was 1 Orange Tip, 1, Small Blue, 3 Small Whites, 1 Speckled Wood, 1 Peacock and 1 Small Tortoiseshell.

Friday 6th May

1 Brimstone, 1 Small Copper, 1 Large White and 1 Peacock butterfly.

Thursday 5th May

1 Peacock was the only sighting.

Tuesday 3rd May

1 Peacock, and 3 Cabbage Whites.

Friday 29th April

At long last some butterfly activity, not much at the moment due to these cold easterly winds but the first Peacock and Red Admiral was found today.
